If you record the mileage of your cars for tax report, expense reimbursement or whatever reasons, Milog can be your friend. Milog is a mileage log tracker application for your vehicle trips. It's designed to lower the burden of your logging efforts down to almost nothing.

New features in 1.5:

  • Now iPhone OS 3.0 compatible
  • You can choose ascending or descending of the sort order in email report.
  • Total parking and total total mileage bill are added in addition to the total bill in the report
  • Option switch that can turn off the auto-filling of distance from the location selected.

User Guides

1. Entering Logs

In the 'New logs' tab, clicking the '+' button will take you to the screen where you can enter a new log. You can enter these informations here:

  1. time of log - populated automatically, changable
  2. driver - populated with the last driver, changable
  3. vehicle - populated with the last vehicle, changable
  4. odometers - start odometer value is populated with the selected vehicle's last end odometer value, both start and end odometers are changable
  5. distance is automatically calculated by start/end odometers
  6. usage - choice between tags 'Business' and 'Personal'
  7. location - destination of your trip. populated with the last location, changable
  8. purpose - purpose of you trip. populated with the last purpose, changable
  9. rate - your rate per mile
  10. parking - parking fee occured during your trip
  11. toll - toll fee occured during your trip
  12. extra - any extra fee occured during your trip
  13. extra note - note about your extra fee if any

You can also change each of existing logs by simply selecting the log item in the list and then clicking the 'Edit' button at the top right corner.

2. Search logs

If you touch the 'Report' tab, it shows you the report screen where you can specify these search conditions supported by Milog

  • First you can select either 'Preset range' or 'Custom range'. Preset ranges allow you to select one of the pre-defined date ranges at your convenience. Custom range allows you to specifiy the exact start and end date for the search.
  • In the 'Filters' section, you can specify search conditions such as usage type, driver, vehicle, location, purpose and/or tag of the trip. If you don't specify for any of these, search will ignore that search condition.

3. Email or delete search results

After search conditions are entered if any, touch 'Next' button then it will take you to the Summary screen which provides two buttons: one for emailing the results and one for deleting the results. The delete button is provided in case you don't want to keep the logs that have been backed up by emailing them.

4. Browsing all the logs

The tab 'Archives' provides you the way to browse all the logs by each month. You can view the logs in any month that exists in the database. You can also modify individual log by selecting it in the list. The list view also has the trash can at the top right corner in case you want to delete all the logs in that particular month.

5. Setup

The last tab 'Setup' allows you to modify the way Milog works. In Milog version 1.4, there are a lot of customizable options.

  1. distance unit - option between 'mile' and 'km' as the unit displayed throughout the application.
  2. tenths of a unit - determines whether to display the tenths of a unit in the odometer wheel.
  3. distance only - if it's on, you only keep distances you traveled and don't need to use odometer wheels.
  4. fields enabled/disabled - this will take you to another screen where you can enable/disable individual fields of the logs.
  5. multiple locations - if it's on, you can enter multiple locations for one trip.
  6. red badge on app icon - if it's on, the application icon displays the red badge with the number of open logs if any.
  7. trip end time - if it's on, you can record the end times of your trips.
  8. time of the day - if it's on, the applications keeps the time of the day of your logs. This is always on when 'trip end time' is on.
  9. tax start month - this is relevant when you search the logs for 'This year' or 'Last year' in the Report tab. For example, if April is specified then 'This year' will be interpreted as last April through next March.
